Denier is an Android application that reads transaction messages on your device and turns them into a record of your spending. This policy describes exactly what it accesses, what it does with it, and what it does not do.
What Denier accesses
Denier requests the READ_SMS and RECEIVE_SMS permissions. These allow it to read SMS messages on your device so it can build your transaction record — this is the application's core function, and it cannot work without them.
Denier filters messages before parsing them. It looks at messages from bank, card, and payment-service senders, and within those, only at messages that describe a transaction. Messages from your contacts, one-time passcodes, and promotional messages are not parsed and are not stored.
From a qualifying message, Denier extracts the amount, the merchant or payee, the account or card reference, the date and time, and whether the transaction was a debit or a credit.
Where your data is stored
On your device, and nowhere else. Denier has no server. Your transactions, categories, and corrections are held in a local database on the phone, readable only by the application.
Denier does not create an account for you, does not ask you to sign in, and does not upload your messages, your transactions, or any derived information to us or to anyone else.
What Denier does not do
Denier does not sell your data. It does not share your data with third parties. It does not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose other than showing you your own spending inside the application.
Denier contains no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking software.
Removing your data
You can delete everything Denier holds at any time by uninstalling the application, which removes its local database along with it. The application also provides an action to clear all stored data while keeping it installed.
You can revoke the SMS permissions at any time in your device's system settings. Denier will stop reading new messages. Because there is no server, there is nothing for you to request deletion of from us — we never receive your data in the first place.
Children
Denier is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from them. As described above, it does not collect information from anyone: all processing stays on the device.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published on this page with a new last-updated date. Material changes that affect how data is handled will also be noted in the application.
